Prior to 1998, the former background of SSIC was Saigon Shipbuilding Company (SSC) belonged to the Ministry of Communication and Transport of Vietnam.

Prior to 1998: Saigon Shipbuilding Company.

1998 - 2006: Saigon Shipbuilding Industry Company

2006 up to now: Saigon Shipbuilding Industry Company Ltd.

Although it's recently has changed in logo and name of company, but the quality of products and services have more heighten everyday.

SSIC is now having 7 subsidiaries in Hochiminh City and 1 branch office in Vungtau City, operating multiple fields in which shipbuilding and repairing industry is main activity. The other fields include:
