What makes a powerful genset a clean genset?
In the case of the new MAN 35/44DF CD, high power density reduces the number of gensets needed per vessel, which translates into lower fuel consumption and emissions. Modern technology makes the genset Tier III compliant in gas mode and diesel mode (with Selective Catalytic Reduction, SCR). We have also worked on methane slip: reducing crevice volume, having cylinders skip firing under 35% engine load, adapting the combustion process, and using SCR for reliable and safe methane slip reduction. The result is up to 85% lower methane slip compared to industry standards. The MAN 35/44DF CD is ready for future methanol use, requirements for further CO2 reduction, and the “Fit for 55” climate proposals.
